The 120 MWth unit produces and stores heat from excess electricity, generated by renewable energy sources. We produce district heating from what would otherwise go to waste. For example, this can be waste from forests in the form of branches and wood chips, waste timber from building sites or surplus heat from industry or data centres.

The district heating business is mainly based on the operation of large combined heat and power plants (CHPs). The segment also includes Vattenfall’s condensing power plants, consisting mainly of gas-fired power plants in the Netherlands.
